Komorebi is an untranslatable Japanese word that refers to 'the sunlight that filters through the leaves of trees'.
This imagery evokes a sense of comfort in its mundane quality. In a similar manner, this multimedia project aims to bring our community together, by sharing what home is to them. To many, the pandemic was, and is, an exponential source of anxiety, stress, depression, among other mental health concerns. We want the project to provide readers with an opportunity to share what home means to them, in the past and the present, and to find shared solace and compassion in looking towards the future.
Through Komorebi, readers can learn from and find resilience in members of their own communities, find homes in their own bodies, in others, or in objects present in their daily lives — while allowing for contributors to reflect on their own vulnerable experiences and express their emotions through creative formats comfortable to them.

IllustratorsDear Contributors:
Without your stories, The Komorebi Project would not exist.
We know that it can take a lot to be vulnerable and share your stories with others in the community, whether you’ve done it time and time again before, or this is your first venture out into the open. The courage you have shown has not gone unnoticed.
Our project began with the intention to build resilience together, and we hope that you find a little comfort and hope in others’ stories as your story will be for them.
Thank you our contributors!
